If you are wondering what an "Alpaca" is... it is a very unique member of the camelid family. They are a lot smaller than llamas. Many people mistake alpacas for llamas however they are quite different with some very distinguishing differences than their cousin the llama! An adult alpaca averages 165lbs where llamas can weigh 425lbs or more! Another very big difference between the two is their fleece. Llamas’ fleece is more like a hair with a slight course feeling where as alpaca is loftier and fine without the prickle factor.
Alpacas produce the most exquisite & rare fleece in the world. Alpaca is stronger (more durable) than cashmere. Prime quality baby alpaca fleece is just as soft as cashmere & every bit as elegant & rare fleece in the world.
At Alpaca Country Paddocks, we carefully breed alpacas. We sell them, their exquisite raw fleece & fine alpaca garments.
